Ty Mathews is the owner of Mid State Sports and founded the company in 2009 after seeing a need for quality, recreational sports opportunities for youth and adults in Nashville. Beginning with only a handful of adult Softball, Kickball, and Basketball leagues, Ty Mathews grew Mid State Sports Leagues into one of the largest adult sports leagues in the southeast, with over 30,000 annual participants in Softball, Kickball, Volleyball, Basketball, Soccer, and Flag Football leagues in Nashville.
In 2014, Ty Mathews started organizing youth soccer and basketball leagues bringing the same level of quality and organization to Nashville’s youth. Growing from one youth soccer league in East Nashville, MSYS now hosts over 5,000 kids ages 3-14 year-round in Soccer, Basketball, and Volleyball leagues.
Beyond youth and adult leagues, Ty Mathews is the tournament director for one of the largest Youth Basketball Tournament series in Tennessee. For nearly 2 decades he has hosted the Mid State basketball tournament series, boasting 20+ tournaments, with over 100 teams each weekend!
